Privacy Policy

Effective April 24, 2026

This is the plain-English version of how Harven handles your data. The short version: your harvest log lives on your device, we collect the bare minimum to run the service, and we never sell your information.

What Harven is

Harven is a web app for home gardeners to plan beds, log harvests, and calculate dollar savings against grocery prices. It is operated as a sole proprietorship doing business as Harven, contactable at hello@harven.app.

What we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. Here is the full list:

Stored on your device only

• Your plants, beds, harvest logs, photos, and savings totals. These live in your browser using a local database called IndexedDB. We never receive copies unless you explicitly export and send them to us.
• Your settings (zip code for weather, units, theme preference). Local only.

Stored on our servers (only if you create a paid subscription)

• Your email address and Stripe customer ID, so we can verify your subscription status and email you about billing or important service changes.
• Subscription state (plan tier, billing period, active or cancelled). Stripe stores payment details — we never see your full card number.

Automatic technical data

• Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested URL) when you access the site, kept up to 30 days for debugging and abuse prevention.
• Crash and error reports via Sentry. We scrub authentication tokens, cookies, and payment-signing headers before they leave your browser.
• Weather queries proxied through our server to a third-party weather provider (Visual Crossing). We pass your zip code to get a forecast and do not log your queries.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not share your data with advertisers.
• We do not put third-party tracking pixels or ad networks on the site.
• We do not transmit your harvest log, photos, plant list, or bed layout to our servers. That stays on your device.

Service providers we use

To run Harven we share the minimum necessary data with a small set of vendors. Each one has its own privacy policy.

• Stripe — payment processing and subscription management. Receives your email, payment details, and billing address.
• Netlify — hosting. Sees standard server log data when you load the site.
• Sentry — error monitoring. Receives scrubbed crash reports.
• Visual Crossing — weather forecasts. Receives the zip code you provide for forecast lookups.
• Google Workspace — runs the hello@harven.app email account if you email us.
• Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — only if you opt in to the email list, we share your email address to deliver the newsletter.

Cookies and similar tech

Harven uses a small number of strictly functional cookies and local storage entries to keep you signed in to the customer portal during checkout, remember your settings, and run the offline service worker. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies that track you across sites.

Your rights

You can, at any time:

• Export your harvest data as CSV (and on Pro, XLSX or PDF) directly from the app.
• Delete all local data by clearing your browser storage for harven.app.
• Cancel a paid subscription from the customer portal at any time, with no questions asked. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Email hello@harven.app to request a copy of any account data we hold for you, or to request deletion of that account data. We will respond within 30 days.

California, EU, and UK residents have additional rights under the CCPA, GDPR, and UK GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection). To exercise them, email hello@harven.app and we will treat your message as a verifiable request.

Children

Harven is not directed at children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle data, we will post an updated policy at this URL and update the effective date above. For paid subscribers, we will also email a heads-up before the change takes effect.
